New Moms And Baby.

Moms , please don’t try to be  super mom after bringing your baby home from the hospital.  Support from your spouse , friends, and family is your support system. Don’t hesitate asking for what you need for yourself and your baby.Mothers need to focus on healing from post birth and caring for their little one. Healing takes up to 6 weeks or more depending on  if you had a cesarean or vaginal birth. Avoid becoming overly stressed. BALANCE is the key.

According to CDC., new mothers who experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders is more likely in the 20% range, which would mean around 1.3 million will develop postpartum depression.

Some newborns are extremely colicky whether you breast or bottle-feed. If you aren’t prepared,  this will drive you insane, because the baby will cry nonstop throughout  the night for weeks or months. If  you decide to breastfeed, research and talk to your doctors often. Breastfeeding isn’t easy, it is extremely difficult if you have never nursed.  If you can hack it for 3 months, most likely you will continue.

RELAXER OR NO RELAXER DURING PREGNANCY

Should a woman get a relaxer during pregnancy or wait until after pregnancy?I believe that she should wait after her first trimester just to be safe. This is when the baby’s development and safety is most vulnerable. Discussing this issue with her  doctor is important so that  she can put her mind at ease.No mother wants to harm her baby unknowingly. All mothers  should educate themselves before applying chemicals to their scalp or body.

During my first pregnancy which was years ago, I stopped getting relaxers, because my doctor insisted that I  wait  until after my first trimester. After my three months, I decided to totally stop relaxing my hair. This was the best decision I ever made. I never turned back.

HAIRLOSS AFTER PREGNANCY

Pregnant Woman

Most women become concerned about hair loss after pregnancy, because their  luscious thick , long hair starts to shed.. During pregnancy the body make more hormones that promotes accelerated hair growth.Three  to six  months after pregnancy,  hair loss should decrease. Just remember, your  hormones will go back to their normal levels.

Post-pregnancy hair loss seems to be excessive , because the hair you are shedding seems to  fall out all at once. Be patient, you hair should start to grow back between 6 to 12 months.  If hair loss  seems to be progressing for a longer period, please see your doctor.
